Nashville-based Indie/Folk quartet Birdtalker was first introduced to the Triple A format in 2018 with their debut album, One, featuring the breakout single "Heavy.” That early bit of success led to lots of touring, festival appearances, and even their debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry. They followed that up in 2021 with their self-titled sophomore album, Birdtalker.
Now, the group is giving fans a taste of their sonic evolution as a band with their third full-length effort, All Means, No End. This time, they chose to team up with a new collaborator, Louis Johnson (LONAS), who produced, engineered, and helped co-write the album. Released in November via Tone Tree, All Means, No End is an engaging palette of beautiful vocal harmonies from singers Zack and Dani Green, as well as introspective lyrics, memorable hooks and lush instrumentation. Musically, All Means, No End continues the band’s signature acoustic style, but with added layers of atmospheric elements, more powerful instrumental sections, and a more polished production.
“We are very proud and excited to be releasing our third full-length album,” stated Birdtalker, which also includes guitarist Brian Seligman and drummer Chris Wilson. “Working with a new collaborator has infused our creative process with fresh energy, and we believe our patience with the process has produced songs that are chock full of energy, sincerity, and joy.”
Highlights include the upbeat “Light On,” with lyrics about finding what makes one happy, and “Roll Down,” which recalls a dreamy, 1970s Fleetwood Mac type of vibe. The catchy single “Season of Charade” is another album highlight, and it is already in power rotation at Sirius XM's The Spectrum. The track is also getting support from WXRT, WRLT, The SoCal Sound, WNRN, WFPK, WYEP, WUIN and many others.
“Season of Charade emerged from a desire to create a song that acknowledged the absurdity and disorienting nature of being alive in the modern world,” the band said of the single. “On top of its rambunctious music bed, the lyrics play with the idea that we oddly accept waltzing around in what can feel like a carnival gameshow of existence.”
Birdtalker is currently mapping out their tour plans for 2025, and will be on the road soon.
